Intense artillery, rocket, and drone attacks on both sides of the Russia-Ukraine frontline have resulted in the deaths of at least 10 people and left more than a dozen wounded, according to regional officials.

The conflict has escalated in the eastern Donetsk region as Russian forces push ahead, with May 9 marking the Soviet Union’s victory in World War II. Ukraine is eagerly awaiting promised US military aid to bolster its defenses.

Ukrainian officials reported that Russian attacks killed six people in the Donetsk region, while four were killed in Russian-occupied parts of southern and eastern Ukraine. In Ukrainian-held territory, a Russian strike on the village of Udachne resulted in three deaths and significant damage to buildings.

In Russian-held territory, a Ukrainian drone attack in Zaporizhzhia killed two people, leaving their children orphaned. Ukrainian artillery fire in the Kherson region claimed two more lives, despite the Kremlin’s claim of annexation in 2022.

The fighting has intensified in the Donetsk region, which is also contested by Moscow. Additional attacks in the Kharkiv and Bryansk regions injured several people, highlighting the ongoing violence and instability in the region.

As the conflict continues to escalate, the international community remains concerned about the humanitarian impact and the potential for further casualties. The situation remains volatile, with both sides engaged in deadly clashes that show no signs of abating.
