Google has recently unveiled four new Search features aimed at helping users quickly assess information and gain key context to understand online content. In addition to these new features, Google has expanded the existing “About this image” and “About this page” features to 40 more languages worldwide, making online information more accessible to users globally.
One of the new features, “More about this page,” allows users to get context about a website before clicking on the link in search results. By clicking on the three dots next to a website and selecting the “more about this page” tab, users can access information that will help them make an informed decision about visiting the website. This feature is now available in 40 additional languages, including French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
Another new feature introduced by Google is the ability to find fact checks in search results. Google has made it easier for users to find fact checks published by independent, authoritative sources on the web. If a fact-check article is relevant to a user’s query, they may see a preview of it in their search results, along with snippets providing quick context about a specific claim that was made.
Furthermore, Google has introduced the Fact Check Explorer feature, which helps journalists and fact-checkers get detailed information about a topic or image. Users can upload or copy the link of an image into the Fact Check Explorer to see if it has been used in an existing fact check.
Overall, these new features and expansions by Google aim to provide users with the tools they need to assess information quickly and accurately, ultimately helping them navigate the vast landscape of online content more effectively.
