Prescott Frontier Days, Inc. is gearing up for the 137th annual World’s Oldest Rodeo, set to take place from July 1 to July 7 in Prescott. This iconic event, held during the bustling Fourth of July week, is a highlight on Prescott’s summer calendar, driving economic prosperity throughout the county. Drawing rodeo enthusiasts from around the world, the World’s Oldest Rodeo invites attendees to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Western culture and history dating back to its inception in 1888.
This year, the rodeo will pay tribute to Prescott traditions, launching the Memory Catcher campaign to collect and share cherished memories and stories of Prescott rodeo traditions. General Manager Jim Dewey Brown expressed gratitude for the generations of rodeo families, highlighting the profound impact the event has had on their lives over the years.
The week-long extravaganza will feature world-class rodeo action, family-friendly entertainment, and a variety of activities for all ages. Highlights include performances by national champion bullfighters, a renowned rodeo clown, and the Broken Spoke Clydesdales. The annual rodeo parade, themed “Prescott Traditions,” will kick off with grand marshal honoree Ibbie Champie, daughter of rodeo champion Lawton Champie.
The festivities will culminate with the annual rodeo dance at the Depot Marketplace/BMO Harris Bank parking lot, offering three nights of music and dance. Tickets for the dance can be purchased at the door, with different nights catering to family-friendly or adult audiences.
