The recent heavy downpour and subsequent floods in Afghanistan have left a trail of destruction, claiming the lives of at least 14 people and causing widespread financial losses for residents in many regions. According to reports from TOLOnews, 140 residential dwellings have been destroyed in 14 provinces, and over 2,000 livestock have perished due to the natural disaster.

The Taliban-led State Ministry for Disaster Management Affairs has been working to assess the damage and provide assistance to those affected. Roads in several provinces, including Badakhshan, Takhar, Ghor, and Nuristan, have been temporarily blocked due to landslides and floods, causing further disruption to daily life.

Residents in the affected areas are calling on the interim government to address their concerns and provide support in the wake of the disaster. Many have reported significant financial losses and are in need of assistance to rebuild their lives.

“It took children, destroyed lands, and bridges,” one resident from Farah province lamented. Another resident from Ghor expressed the expectation that the government would help those trapped and assist in repairing the damage caused by the floods.

The ongoing rainfall has exacerbated the situation, leading to more challenges for the residents as they try to recover from the devastating impact of the floods. The community is coming together to support each other during this difficult time, but they are also looking for assistance from the government to help them rebuild and recover from the losses they have suffered.
