Police in Cranbrook made a significant drug bust last week, seizing six kilograms of suspected drugs during a search warrant in the Kootenays. The operation, which took place on April 16 along the 200 block of 3rd Avenue South, resulted in the confiscation of meth, fentanyl, cocaine, psilocybin, and close to $80,000 in cash, along with some Mexican currency.
In addition to the drugs and cash, two firearms and several prohibited weapons were also taken from the residence. Two individuals, a 52-year-old man, and a 45-year-old woman, were arrested in connection with the bust. They have since been released on promises to appear in court at a later date.
Staff Sgt. Barry Graham praised the efforts of Cranbrook’s enhanced response unit, calling it a great team effort. He expressed gratitude that the items were seized before they could hit the streets of Cranbrook, potentially causing harm to the community.
The RCMP’s successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes in the region. The authorities remain vigilant in their fight against organized crime and drug trafficking, working tirelessly to keep the community safe. The seized drugs and weapons represent a significant dent in the illegal drug trade, sending a strong message to those involved in such activities.
