The Federal Government has taken a significant step towards empowering Nigerian youths by awarding N100 million in grants to 200 young individuals from various parts of the country. The grants were distributed at an event called ‘Unlock Training’ in Abuja, organized by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education, Abiola Arogundade.

Arogundade highlighted that 120 of the recipients were newcomers looking to kickstart their ventures, while the remaining 80 were existing entrepreneurs in need of financial assistance to expand their businesses. The selection process involved a six-week campaign where participants were required to submit a one-minute video showcasing their skills, future aspirations, and how government support could help them achieve their goals.

In addition to the financial grants, the beneficiaries were also presented with Certificates of Completion for their participation in the training program. Arogundade emphasized that the training covered essential aspects of business planning and financial management to equip the youths with the necessary skills for success.

Speaking to the press, Arogundade reassured the recipients that the government, under the leadership of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is committed to promoting technical and entrepreneurship education across the country. This initiative is part of a broader effort to support young entrepreneurs and foster economic growth in Nigeria.

Furthermore, the Minister of Youth Development, Jamila Bio-Ibrahim, announced plans to revamp the National Youth Service Corps Scheme, with over 5,000 corps members set to receive funding for their entrepreneurial ventures. This move underscores the government’s commitment to empowering the youth and driving innovation and economic development in the country.
