2024 PNJ All-Area Selections for Basketball, Soccer, Wrestling, and Girls Weightlifting

The winter sports season has come to a close, and it was a successful one for many teams and athletes in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. Among the standout performers were the Pace girls weightlifting team, who dominated the competition at the state championships in Lakeland, sweeping both traditional and Olympic scoring titles in Class 3A.

In boys basketball, Navarre’s Darius Cunningham stood out as the Player of the Year. Cunningham’s exceptional play was instrumental in Navarre’s success, leading the team in scoring and showcasing his skills on the court. West Florida’s John Anderson was recognized as the Defensive Player of the Year for his outstanding contributions on the court.

In girls basketball, Chamiah Francis from Booker T. Washington was named the Player of the Year for her stellar performance throughout the season. Niylia Wilkins from Pine Forest was honored as the Defensive Player of the Year for her strong defensive play.

In boys soccer, Tate’s Jackson Clarke was named the Player of the Year for his offensive prowess, while Tony Lipnicky from Booker T. Washington received the Defensive Player of the Year award. Landon Rhymer from Booker T. Washington was recognized as the Newcomer of the Year for his impressive debut season.

In girls soccer, Cici Buffalino from Navarre was named the Player of the Year, while Zoey Mattes from Pace received the Defensive Player of the Year award. Addison Manning from Pensacola Catholic was recognized as the Newcomer of the Year for her standout performances.

In wrestling, Coby Shields from Gulf Breeze was named the Boys Wrestler of the Year, while Camdyn Elliott from Gulf Breeze received the Girls Wrestler of the Year award. Coach Dave Daily from Gulf Breeze was honored as the Coach of the Year for his leadership and success with the wrestling program.
