2025 UAE Public Holidays Schedule Released

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The UAE Cabinet has recently announced the official public holidays for both the public and private sectors in 2025, with resolution No. 27 of 2024 being issued to outline the dates. The resolution, which was published in the official gazette, takes into account various laws and regulations governing public holidays in the country.

According to the resolution, both the public and private sectors will be entitled to a one-day holiday on January 1, 2025, to celebrate the New Year. Additionally, there will be a three-day holiday from Shawwal 1-3, based on moonsighting, with the 30th day of Ramadan being designated as an official holiday if the holy month completes 30 days.

The official dates for holidays such as Arafa Day, Eid Al Adha, Islamic New Year, Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) birthday, and the UAE National Day have also been confirmed in the resolution. These dates will be confirmed closer to the events based on moonsighting for corresponding Islamic calendar dates.

The resolution also includes provisions for transferring public holidays to the beginning or end of the week, with the exception of Eid holidays. It stipulates that a public holiday may not be carried forward if it falls on another public holiday or a weekend. Additionally, local governments have the authority to approve other official holidays for their government departments and institutions on special occasions or for any other reason.

Cabinet Resolution No. 27 of 2019 has been repealed by this new resolution, which will come into effect from January 1, 2025. The resolution aims to streamline and clarify the public holiday schedule for the upcoming year, ensuring that both the public and private sectors are aware of the designated holidays well in advance.

Overall, the announcement of the official public holidays for 2025 provides clarity and certainty for businesses and individuals in the UAE, allowing them to plan their schedules and celebrations accordingly. The resolution reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring a well-regulated and organized holiday calendar for the benefit of all sectors of society.
