The “Imam al-Freij” initiative in Dubai has seen a remarkable response from the community, with over 2,000 participants registering just three weeks after its launch. The initiative, aimed at training young individuals to lead prayers in mosques, has been extended due to popular demand from the Al-Furjan residents.

The initiative, launched by the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department, has been a resounding success, with the number of mosques involved increasing to accommodate the growing interest. The initiative, under the slogan “Your Children are the Light of Our Mosques,” has captured the attention of the youth and families in the Emirate of Dubai.

Dr. Mohammed Suhail Al Muhairi, head of the initiative team, emphasized the importance of initiatives like “Imam al-Freij” in promoting Islamic and cultural values in society. He highlighted the significance of engaging young children in Quranic education and training them to become future leaders in their communities.

The participants in the initiative will undergo rigorous training in Quranic studies, jurisprudence, and the rules of prayer and leading prayer. The goal is to prepare a generation of confident and knowledgeable individuals who are well-versed in their religious duties and traditions.

The Department is committed to promoting purposeful community initiatives that align with the teachings and values of Islam. By encouraging participation in initiatives like “Imam al-Freij,” the Department aims to establish Dubai as a global leader in Islamic and charitable activities.

The success of the initiative has prompted the Department to extend the registration period for young children in Al-Furjan until May 21, 2024. With over 70 mosques across Dubai participating in the initiative, the Department is working diligently to ensure that the participants receive comprehensive training and education.

The evaluation of the participants by committees in September will mark the culmination of months of hard work and dedication towards preparing the youth to become future leaders in their communities. The initiative serves as a testament to Dubai’s commitment to promoting Islamic values and traditions among its residents.

As the initiative continues to gain momentum, it is clear that the “Imam al-Freij” initiative is not just a training program but a transformative experience for the youth of Dubai. By instilling a sense of responsibility and leadership in the participants, the initiative is shaping a generation of individuals who will carry forward the torch of Islamic teachings and values in their communities.
