In a tragic turn of events, Russia-installed officials in the partially occupied Ukrainian regions of Kherson and Luhansk reported that Ukrainian attacks have left at least 28 people dead. The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine escalated as both sides exchanged drone attacks overnight into Saturday.

The small town of Sadove in Ukraine’s partially occupied Kherson region bore the brunt of the violence, with 22 people killed and 15 wounded in a Ukrainian attack on Friday, according to Moscow-backed governor Vladimir Saldo. The governor claimed that Ukrainian forces used a French-made guided bomb followed by a U.S.-supplied HIMARS missile, deliberately targeting civilians who rushed to help the injured.

In the Luhansk region, Russia-installed governor Leonid Pasechnik confirmed that two more bodies were recovered from the rubble following a Ukrainian missile attack on the regional capital, bringing the death toll to six. Additionally, 60 people were wounded in the assault, prompting Pasechnik to declare a day of mourning in the region.

As the violence continued, both Russia and Ukraine engaged in drone attacks across each other’s territories. Russia’s Defense Ministry reported that Ukrainian drones were destroyed over various regions, while Ukrainian air defense successfully shot down Russian drones over several Ukrainian regions.

The situation remains tense as both sides continue to exchange fire, leaving civilians caught in the crossfire. The international community watches with bated breath as the conflict shows no signs of abating.
