Rapper 50 Cent has filed a lawsuit against his ex-girlfriend Daphne Joy for defamation, accusing her of falsely accusing him of rape and physical abuse during their relationship. The 48-year-old artist, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, is also in a custody battle with Joy over their son, Sire.
According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, 50 Cent alleges that Joy’s accusations were a deliberate attempt to destroy his personal and business reputation, harm his commercial interests, negatively impact their custody case, and prevent him from seeing his son. The lawsuit was filed on May 6, with 50 Cent seeking punitive damages for the harm caused by Joy’s statements.
In response to Joy’s accusations, 50 Cent released a statement emphasizing that his main priority is the safety of his son, Sire. He stated that Joy’s allegations were a response to his decision to seek sole custody of their child.
Joy, who was previously named as a “sex worker” in a lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs, denied the claim and expressed her intention to pursue legal action against the accuser. She later publicly accused 50 Cent of rape and physical abuse in a social media post, to which 50 Cent responded by reiterating his commitment to protecting his son.
The legal battle between 50 Cent and Daphne Joy highlights the complexities of their past relationship and the challenges they face in co-parenting their child. As the case unfolds, both parties are expected to present their arguments in court to seek a resolution to their dispute.
