6th Bangladeshi reaches the summit of Mount Everest

Babar Ali, a physician from Hathazari upazila in Chattogram, has made history by reaching the summit of Mount Everest on Sunday, May 19, at 8:45 am Bangladesh time. He is now the sixth Bangladeshi to conquer the world’s highest peak, sparking widespread acclaim in Chattogram and across social media.

His organization, Vertical Dreamers, shared the news on Facebook, expressing gratitude for the support and blessings that helped Babar achieve this remarkable feat. Farhan Zaman, the expedition’s chief coordinator, confirmed Babar’s successful ascent, stating that he reached the peak at 8:30 am local time in Nepal.

Babar Ali had been preparing for this momentous climb for weeks, undergoing extensive training and trekking from Kathmandu to the base camp before beginning the ascent. Now that he has conquered Everest, Babar has set his sights on Mount Lhotse, the fourth highest mountain in the world. If successful, he will be the first Bangladeshi to summit Lhotse and the first to climb two 8,000-meter peaks in a single expedition, marking a new milestone in Bangladeshi mountaineering.

Bangladesh’s history with Everest dates back to 2010 when Musa Ibrahim became the first Bangladeshi to reach the summit. Since then, several others have followed in his footsteps, with Nishat Majumder being the first Bangladeshi woman to conquer Everest.

As Babar Ali descends from Everest, he is already looking ahead to his next challenge on Lhotse, calling for continued prayers and support from his well-wishers. His remarkable achievement serves as an inspiration to aspiring mountaineers in Bangladesh and beyond.
