In a thrilling Game 5 showdown, the Philadelphia 76ers managed to stave off elimination with a nail-biting 112-106 overtime victory against the New York Knicks. Tyrese Maxey was the star of the night, scoring an impressive 46 points to lead the Sixers to victory. Kelly Oubre Jr. also played a crucial role, hitting a tiebreaking layup in overtime to secure the win.

The Knicks had a chance to close out the series with a 96-90 lead and just 28.9 seconds left on the clock. However, Maxey had other plans, converting a four-point play and sinking a 35-foot three-pointer to force overtime. Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 40 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the resilient Sixers.

Despite Joel Embiid battling through a migraine and hobbling throughout the game, he still managed to contribute 19 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists. Maxey’s stellar performance, making 17 of 30 shots and hitting seven 3-pointers, was instrumental in keeping the Sixers’ playoff hopes alive.

With Game 6 set to take place in Philadelphia on Thursday, the Sixers will look to continue their momentum and force a Game 7 back in New York on Saturday. The series is far from over, and fans can expect more thrilling action as these two teams battle it out for a spot in the next round of the playoffs.
