Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has issued a stark warning, stating that if Russia defeats Ukraine, it will be a “turning point in history.” In an article for the Daily Mail, Johnson criticized Western countries for not providing Ukraine with the necessary weapons to combat the Russian invasion.

Johnson emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating that every week that passes without providing Ukraine with the weapons it needs brings Putin closer to his goal of “torturing a European country to death.” He highlighted the growing pressure on Ukraine and stressed that the solution is within reach.

Having visited Ukraine multiple times during his premiership, Johnson expressed his concern that a defeat for Ukraine would embolden Putin to continue his expansionist ambitions, potentially threatening other countries in the Euro-Atlantic area. He warned that a Ukrainian defeat would signal to China that the West lacks the willpower to protect democracy.

Describing the current situation as a “knife-edge,” Johnson urged Western democracies to take action before it’s too late. He highlighted the dire shortage of essential supplies in Ukraine, such as shells and air defenses, putting cities like Kharkiv at risk.

Johnson called on the US Congress to approve a $60 billion military aid package for Ukraine and urged Germany to supply Taurus missiles. He emphasized the need for the West, including Britain, to “snap out of our sleep-walk” and invest in the defense of Ukraine as a cost-effective way to defend freedom.

The former Prime Minister’s impassioned plea serves as a wake-up call to the international community, urging swift action to prevent a catastrophic outcome in Ukraine.
