The Chad Daybell trial took a dramatic turn on Monday as a new video was presented as evidence, showing Daybell speaking with his daughter Emma moments after being detained by police. The video, captured in the back of a patrol car, revealed a tense conversation between father and daughter as detectives searched Daybell’s property for the remains of Lori Vallow’s children, JJ Vallow and Tylee Ryan.
In the video, Daybell can be heard discussing financial obligations with Emma while in police custody. The emotional exchange took place as law enforcement officers combed through his property, just yards away from where he was seated in the patrol car.
Detective Eric Wheeler testified that Daybell had visited Emma’s house for up to an hour and a half before being pulled over by police. Emma, visibly distraught, walked over to the patrol vehicle where she engaged in a conversation with her father.
The video also captured Daybell looking over his shoulder towards the fire pit on his property, where Tylee’s remains were later discovered. Additionally, body camera footage from Daybell’s arrest on June 9, 2020, showed him being informed by police that a body had been found on his property.
Daybell is facing charges of murder and conspiracy in connection with the deaths of Lori Vallow Daybell’s children, as well as the death of his first wife, Tammy Daybell. The trial continues to unfold with gripping revelations and emotional moments, leaving the jury and spectators on the edge of their seats.
