Fredonia senior pitcher Jordan Lucas had a stellar performance in Monday’s Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West game against Allegany-Limestone. Lucas threw a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts, leading the Hillbillies to an 8-1 victory.

Despite walking three batters and hitting one, Lucas only allowed an unearned run throughout the game. Fredonia took an early lead with Lucas scoring in the first inning on a pair of passed balls. The Hillbillies extended their lead in the second inning, with Ellie VanDette scoring on a passed ball after being hit by a pitch.

Allegany-Limestone managed to score their only run in the third inning, but Fredonia responded with a four-run inning in the bottom of the third. Sophia Gullo’s bases-clearing triple was a highlight of the inning, helping Fredonia secure a comfortable lead.

In other Division 1 West action, Southwestern’s Madi Burnett threw a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts in a 12-0 win over Jamestown. The Trojans’ offense was led by Alexis Beckerink and Peyton Lillie, who combined for six hits and six RBIs.

Meanwhile, Silver Creek fell to Lake Shore 6-4, with Kyla Ziegler driving in three runs for the Black Knights. Olean also secured a 9-1 victory over Dunkirk, while Panama rallied from a 5-0 deficit to beat Pine Valley 19-5.

Overall, it was an eventful day of softball in the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association, with standout performances and exciting matchups across the board.
