Keanu Reeves to Voice Shadow in Sonic the Hedgehog 3

In a surprising turn of events, Hollywood icon Keanu Reeves has been announced as the voice of Shadow in the highly anticipated Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie. The 59-year-old star will be joining the star-studded cast, which includes Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, and Jim Carrey.

Fans got a sneak peek at the upcoming film during CinemaCon last week, where it was revealed that the villainous Dr. Robotnik, played by Jim Carrey, will be making a comeback with the creation of Shadow the Hedgehog. The character, known for his extraordinary speed and Chaos Control powers, was first introduced in the 2001 video game Sonic Adventure 2.

Producer Toby Ascher has big plans for the Sonic franchise, aiming to make future releases “Avengers-level events.” With the addition of Shadow in Sonic 3 and the upcoming Paramount+ TV spin-off series Knuckles, Ascher is excited to explore the world of Sonic in more depth.

“We got really excited about the idea of expanding our characters in our world into television, specifically, because it gives us a platform to really do character studies,” Ascher shared. “The Sonic franchise on the movie side is going to be these big, exciting stories that have a lot of different characters.”

With Keanu Reeves lending his voice to the enigmatic Shadow, fans can expect an action-packed and thrilling adventure when Sonic the Hedgehog 3 hits theaters in December. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project!
