In a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi slammed the electoral bond scheme as the “world’s biggest extortion scheme” and labeled PM Modi as the “champion of corruption”. The Supreme Court recently scrapped the controversial electoral bond scheme, which was introduced by the BJP government.
Speaking at a press conference in Ghaziabad, Rahul Gandhi predicted a reduced number of seats for the BJP in the upcoming elections, citing a growing undercurrent in favor of the INDIA bloc. He criticized the lack of transparency in the electoral bond scheme, questioning why the names of donors and dates of donations to the BJP were hidden from the public.
Accompanied by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Rahul Gandhi emphasized the importance of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as a battle between ideologies. He highlighted the contrast between the RSS and BJP, which he accused of trying to undermine the Constitution, and the INDIA bloc, which he claimed is dedicated to protecting and defending the Constitution.
Akhilesh Yadav echoed Rahul’s sentiments, describing the INDIA alliance as a “new hope” and emphasizing the need for change in the current political landscape. He criticized the BJP for its alleged corruption and highlighted the plight of 60 lakh youth affected by a recent paper leak in constable recruitment in Uttar Pradesh.
The joint address by Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav in Ghaziabad marked a significant moment in the election campaign, with both leaders rallying support for the INDIA bloc and expressing confidence in a victory over the NDA. The upcoming elections are shaping up to be a fierce battle between competing ideologies and visions for the future of India.
