**Ireland’s Deputy Leader Calls for More Aid to Gaza**

Ireland’s deputy premier, Micheal Martin, has made a heartfelt appeal to Israel to “show humanity” and allow more aid into Gaza. The foreign affairs minister described the humanitarian situation in Gaza as “catastrophic”, with a quarter of the population facing starvation and 80% forced to flee their homes due to Israel’s military campaign.

**Urgent Need for Aid**

Mr. Martin emphasized the urgent need for a proper flow of aid through land routes to alleviate the suffering of the civilian population in Gaza. He highlighted the excessive checking at borders, which hinders the delivery of essential supplies. The situation has been described as dire and catastrophic by officials from Jordan, Egypt, and Palestine.

**International Court of Justice Ruling**

In a significant development, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has ordered Israel to open more land crossings to allow food, water, fuel, and other supplies into Gaza. The court stressed the need for immediate action to prevent mass starvation and further deterioration of living conditions in the region.

**Pressure on Israel**

The ICJ ruling has put pressure on the government of Benjamin Netanyahu to comply with the court’s orders. Ireland’s Prime Minister, Leo Varadkar, has called for Israel to immediately adhere to the ICJ’s provisional measures to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

As the world watches, the spotlight is on Israel to demonstrate humanity and take decisive action to ensure the well-being of the civilian population in Gaza. The international community is closely monitoring the situation and urging Israel to act swiftly to prevent a worsening of the crisis.
