The entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in North Carolina as new businesses continue to pop up across the state. According to the North Carolina Secretary of State’s Office, nearly 15,000 new businesses have been added so far this year, signaling a strong rebound from the challenges brought on by the pandemic.
One such success story is The Flavor Hills, a restaurant with locations in Raleigh and Jacksonville, N.C. Chef Morgan Teianne and her partners recently opened a second location in downtown Raleigh, joining the ranks of nearly 40 Black-owned businesses in the area.
Teianne, inspired by her father and late grandmother, brings her passion for Southern cuisine to North Carolina, catering to a diverse range of customers. The response to The Flavor Hills has been overwhelmingly positive, with Teianne noting that people are excited about the unique dining experience they offer.
With the original Jacksonville location thriving for the past three years and the Raleigh location opening in January, Teianne has her sights set on expanding further. She hopes to open another location by the end of the year, potentially in Charlotte, to continue sharing her love of food and community with even more customers.
As The Flavor Hills and other new businesses continue to flourish in North Carolina, the state’s economy is poised for a strong recovery. The entrepreneurial drive and dedication of business owners like Teianne are paving the way for a bright future in the Tar Heel State.
