Lucknow Super Giants batter Nicholas Pooran is set to showcase his skills against Chennai Super Kings in Match 39 of the Indian Premier League 2024 season. Pooran recently played a crucial role in LSG’s victory over CSK, scoring an unbeaten 23 runs off just 12 balls.
With this innings, Pooran surpassed the milestone of 1,500 IPL runs, becoming the sixth West Indies batter to achieve this feat. In his IPL career spanning 65 matches, Pooran has accumulated 1,516 runs at an impressive average of 30.32 and a strike rate of 157.91. His strike rate is the fourth-highest among batters with at least 600 IPL runs, showcasing his aggressive batting style.
Pooran made his IPL debut in 2019 for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) and has since been a consistent performer in the league. He was later acquired by Sunrisers Hyderabad and then by Lucknow Super Giants in subsequent auctions, where he has continued to excel with the bat.
As CSK prepares to face LSG, the focus will be on the battle between Pooran and CSK pacer Shardul Thakur, who has dismissed Pooran five times in T20 cricket. Both teams have had a similar performance in the ongoing season, with four wins and three defeats each, setting the stage for an exciting clash between the two sides.
