Babu Ram Yadav and Takdira Begum were among the recipients of the prestigious Padma Shri Awards for their outstanding contributions to the field of art. Yadav, hailing from Moradabad, UP, is an expert in Marori brass craft, known for creating intricate designs using traditional techniques. He expressed his gratitude to the government of India for the recognition and shared that his entire family is involved in the craft.
On the other hand, Takdira Begum, from West Bengal, was recognized for her remarkable work on Nakshi Kantha stitches. She expressed her joy at receiving the award and emphasized the importance of encouraging traditional art forms. Khalil Ahmed from Mirzapur district was also honored with the Padma Shri for his special contribution to handmade carpets.
The awards were presented by President Droupadi Murmu at the Civil Investiture Ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. The event was attended by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other dignitaries. The Padma Awards, announced on the eve of the 75th Republic Day, aim to acknowledge exceptional contributions in various fields.
In addition to Yadav, Begum, and Ahmed, several other individuals were recognized for their remarkable achievements. Actor and politician Mithun Chakraborty and Pyarelal Sharma of the music duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal were also awarded Padma Bhushan for their significant contributions. The awards ceremony celebrated the talent and dedication of individuals across different fields, highlighting their invaluable contributions to society.
