A shocking case has emerged in Somerville, Mass., where a 60-year-old man, Jose Mendez, is facing charges of assault after allegedly posing as a chiropractor and running an unlicensed chiropractic business from his home. Mendez has been charged with two counts of indecent assault and battery, indecent exposure, and operating without a license, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.

The investigation revealed that Mendez was operating his illicit business out of his Cross Street residence in Somerville, relying on word of mouth and community referrals. Authorities are currently looking into the extent of his unlicensed practice.

The charges stem from incidents where Mendez allegedly assaulted two women who sought treatment at his home. The victims reported inappropriate touching, with one victim stating that Mendez exposed himself to her by unzipping his pants.

Mendez was arraigned in Somerville District Court and bail was set at $5,500. As part of the conditions of his release, Mendez has been ordered to stay away from the victims and refrain from practicing as a chiropractor.

Anyone with information regarding Jose Mendez or his unlicensed chiropractic business is urged to contact the Somerville Police. Mendez is scheduled to appear in court again on May 14.
