The first GCC Youth Games kicked off in Dubai with a spectacular opening ceremony at the Dubai Opera, attended by dignitaries, ambassadors, and sports personalities from across the GCC countries. His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, emphasized the importance of such tournaments in showcasing the talent and unity of the youth in the region.

The event, themed around sustainability and youth, featured a mesmerizing artistic performance that captivated the audience. With 1500 people in attendance, the ceremony marked the beginning of the games, which will run until May 2nd, with 3,500 athletes competing in 24 sports.

Sheikh Mansoor praised the dedication of the athletes and the efforts of all involved in organizing the event, highlighting the values of unity and solidarity that sporting events bring to communities. The ceremony included the traditional parade of flags, athletes taking their pledges, and artistic performances symbolizing the future and sustainability of the GCC countries.

The UAE has taken the lead in the medal tally, with an impressive total of 168 medals, including 58 gold, 62 silver, and 48 bronze. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait follow closely behind in the standings, showcasing the competitive spirit and talent on display at the games.

The GCC Youth Games aim to foster competition, friendship, and cooperation among the youth of the region, with a focus on excellence and setting new benchmarks in sports. The event is a testament to the commitment of GCC leaders to nurturing the talents of the youth and promoting sports as a platform for unity and progress.
