Tourists slammed for posing naked on Namibian dune

The Namibian authorities have expressed shock and outrage after a group of tourists stripped naked and posed for pictures on the popular Big Daddy dune in the Namib desert. The incident, which took place during a dune safari, was captured in images and videos that circulated widely on social media.

Officials have condemned the act as a violation of park regulations and national law, labeling it as public indecency. The Big Daddy dune, located in the Namib-Naukluft National Park, is a major tourist attraction in Namibia.

Kenneth Nependa, vice-chairperson of the Federation of Namibian Tourism Association, called the incident “disgusting” and emphasized the need for tourists to respect local laws and customs. He urged the ministry to take action against such behavior to prevent future incidents.

The nude men involved in the incident have not been publicly identified and are believed to have left the country before authorities could take action. The Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism is considering “blacklisting” the tourists from entering any of Namibia’s national parks in the future.

This incident is not an isolated case, as similar incidents of tourists behaving inappropriately while overseas have been reported in other destinations. Authorities in Bali, for example, recently investigated a foreign visitor who was filmed meditating naked at a Hindu shrine, sparking anger among locals. Such incidents highlight the importance of respecting local customs and laws while traveling.
