Crown College Sweeps Martin Luther College in UMAC Baseball Series

NEW ULM — The Martin Luther College Knights faced a tough challenge on Saturday as they took on the Crown College Polars in a UMAC baseball doubleheader. Despite a strong effort, the Knights fell short, losing both games to the Polars.

In the first game of the doubleheader, Crown College secured a 3-1 victory over MLC. The Polars, who lead the conference in batting average and home runs, capitalized on errors made by the Knights to secure the win.

MLC’s Matt Rieger pitched a solid game, allowing just two unearned runs, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Crown’s offense. The Knights managed to score a run in the eighth inning but couldn’t muster a comeback in the ninth.

In the second game, Crown College continued their offensive dominance, outhitting the Knights 16-8 and securing a 12-4 victory. Despite a strong effort from MLC’s Spencer Lilienthal and Parker Winghart, the Knights couldn’t overcome the Polars’ strong performance.

MLC head coach Randy Cox praised his team’s effort but expressed disappointment in the errors made during the second game. With several key players dealing with injuries, the Knights will need to regroup as they wrap up their season with a series against Northland College.

Despite the losses, Coach Cox remains optimistic about his team’s ability to compete and is focused on improving their consistency and cutting down on errors in future games. The Knights will look to finish the season strong and build momentum for the future.
