Macalester to Host St. Catherine in MIAC Quarterfinals of Women’s Tennis

The Macalester College women’s tennis team is gearing up for their MIAC Playoff run as they secured the No. 4 seed in the upcoming tournament. Coached by Ted Lauer, the Scots finished the season with a record of 11-6 (6-4 MIAC) and will face off against St. Catherine on Tuesday, April 30 at 3:30 pm at Hayden Courts.

This will be the fifth appearance for the Scots in the MIAC Playoffs since its inception in 2007. Earlier in the season, Macalester defeated St. Catherine with a score of 7-2, showcasing their strength in both doubles and singles matches. Players like Sydney Ellison, Elizabeth Trevathan, Amanye Reynolds, Meg Ulrich, Savannah Haugen, and Megan Twomey all contributed to the team’s success.

In the quarterfinals, Macalester will take on St. Catherine while Saint Benedict will face off against Bethel. The winners of these matches will advance to the semifinals on Thursday, May 2, with Carleton hosting the lowest remaining seed and Gustavus hosting the higher remaining seed. The ultimate showdown for the MIAC Playoff Championships will take place on Saturday, May 4 at 1:00 pm at the highest remaining seed.
