The Audubon boy’s and girl’s tennis teams faced tough competition against Clarinda on Thursday, resulting in close matches but ultimately falling short. The boys lost 8-1, while the girls were defeated 6-3.
Despite the losses, there were standout performances from both teams. On the girl’s side, Briley Belnap secured a singles victory by beating Alivia Higgins 8-4, and Sammy Warnaca triumphed over Ellison Lovett with a score of 8-6. In the doubles matches, Rachael Rynearson and Lauren Greving clinched a win against Clarinda’s Alivia Higgins and Ellison Lovett with a score of 9-7.
For the boys, Creighton Bird emerged victorious in a tight 9-7 match against Isaac Jackson, while Carson Matthews secured the only singles victory for Audubon by defeating Ben Miller 8-6.
The matches showcased the talent and determination of the Audubon tennis teams, despite the final scores not being in their favor. The players displayed skill and sportsmanship throughout the competition, making their school and community proud.
