The Escanaba High School baseball team is on a hot streak, securing their third consecutive win with a doubleheader sweep over Negaunee. The Eskymos, now boasting a 9-5 record for the 2024 season, showed resilience in their first game, coming back from a 5-1 deficit to win 6-5.
Senior Bon LaChance ignited the Eskymos’ offense with a solo home run, and key hits from Nick Chiu and Cannon Arnt tied the game. In a dramatic finish, sophomore Nolan Bink scored the winning run after a wild pitch with freshman Brody Ison on third base.
Ison, who had a stellar performance both at bat and on the mound, finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored and also earned the win with a solid pitching performance. LaChance contributed with a 2-for-2 performance, including two RBIs and a run scored.
In the second game, Escanaba continued their dominance with a 6-1 victory, highlighted by back-to-back RBI singles from Eli Gardner and Ben Johnson, as well as a three-run home run from LaChance in the fourth inning. Arnt pitched a strong game, allowing only one earned run off three hits while striking out six.
The Eskymos will look to extend their winning streak as they host Southgate Anderson for a doubleheader on Saturday. With their recent success, Escanaba baseball is proving to be a force to be reckoned with in the 2024 season.
