Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor Khan has been appointed as the new National Ambassador for UNICEF India. The announcement was made on Saturday, with UNICEF India expressing their excitement to have Kareena on board to support the organization’s efforts in promoting every child’s right to early childhood development, health, education, and gender equality.

Kareena, who has been associated with UNICEF India since 2014, previously served as a Celebrity Advocate for the organization. In her statement, the 43-year-old actor expressed her honor in continuing her association with UNICEF as India’s National Ambassador. She emphasized the importance of advocating for vulnerable children and their rights, particularly in areas such as early childhood, education, and gender equality.

In addition to Kareena’s appointment, UNICEF India also introduced its first-ever Youth Advocates, who will focus on issues like climate action, mental health, innovations, and Girls in STEM. The four advocates, hailing from different states in India, will join the global cohort of youth advocates working towards driving change for children and young people.

UNICEF India Representative Cynthia McCaffrey welcomed Kareena Kapoor Khan as the National Ambassador, praising her energy and impact in supporting various national and global campaigns. McCaffrey expressed her excitement to work with Kareena and the four Youth Advocates to continue advocating for child rights.
