Mitchell Starc Shines for Kolkata Knight Riders, Shrugs off Price-Tag Pressure

Mitchell Starc, the Australian left-arm pacer for the Kolkata Knight Riders, has been under intense scrutiny this IPL season due to his staggering bid of Rs. 24.75 crore. However, on Friday night at the Wankhede Stadium, Starc silenced his critics with a stellar performance.

In a match against an in-form Mumbai Indians, Starc showcased his class by dismissing Ishan Kishan with a perfect in-swinging yorker that crashed into the leg-stump. He went on to claim three more wickets, finishing with a four-wicket haul, marking his return to form in the tournament since 2015.

Despite a challenging season so far, Starc did not shy away from acknowledging the Impact Player rule’s impact on bowlers in the IPL. He highlighted the rule’s influence on team compositions and the high-scoring nature of matches due to deep batting line-ups.

When asked about the pressure of his hefty price tag, Starc remained unfazed, stating, “I didn’t set my price tag, so it is what it is.”

With the World Cup looming next month, Starc’s resurgence couldn’t have come at a better time. As he continues to deliver match-winning performances, the Kolkata Knight Riders will be hoping for more of the same from their high-priced asset in the remaining games of the IPL.
