Max Verstappen outpaces Charles Leclerc to secure seventh consecutive F1 pole position in Miami GP Qualifying

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Max Verstappen continued his dominant streak in Formula 1 by claiming his seventh successive pole position in the Miami Grand Prix Qualifying session. The Red Bull driver topped Charles Leclerc to secure the top spot on the grid for the race on Sunday.

Verstappen’s time of 1:27.241 on his first flying lap in Q3 was enough to secure pole position, extending his career-best streak and moving him within one pole of Ayrton Senna’s all-time record of eight. The Dutch driver’s pole position also marked the first time since Lewis Hamilton in 2015 that a driver has claimed seven poles in a row.

While Verstappen looks set to continue his winning ways in the race, Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz managed to outqualify Red Bull’s Sergio Perez to take third place on the grid. This strategic advantage could play a crucial role in the race on Sunday.

Lando Norris took fifth place in his upgraded McLaren, with Mercedes duo George Russell and Lewis Hamilton in seventh and eighth, respectively. The qualifying session also saw surprises as both Aston Martins were knocked out in Q2, with Fernando Alonso only managing 15th place.

As the anticipation builds for the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, fans can catch all the action live on Sky Sports F1 at 9pm, with the build-up starting at 7.30pm. With Verstappen’s dominant form and the strategic battles shaping up on the grid, the race promises to be an exciting one for Formula 1 fans around the world.
