The Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association recently announced the All-U.P. boy’s basketball honors and award winners, recognizing outstanding players and coaches in the region. The awards were voted on by the UPSSA on April 1 at Northern Michigan University.

Among the major awards, Jonny Ingalls from St. Ignace was named Mr. Basketball, while Oskar Kangas from Iron Mountain received the Division 1-3 Player of the Year award. The Division 4 Player of the Year went to Jonny Ingalls from St. Ignace. Dan Olkkonen from Kingsford was honored as the Division 1-3 Coach of the Year, and Doug Ingalls from St. Ignace was named the Division 4 Coach of the Year.

The Dream Team selections included standout players like Levi Frahm from Jeffers, Gavin Grondin from Kingsford, Oskar Kangas from Iron Mountain, Jacob MacPhee from Marquette, and Jonny Ingalls from St. Ignace.

Additionally, the Division 1-3 First and Second Teams were announced, recognizing top performers from schools across the Upper Peninsula. Special Mention and Honorable Mention lists were also released, highlighting even more talented players in the region.

The Division 4 First and Second Teams featured impressive players like Vic Giuliani from Forest Park, Trevor Nolan from Munising, and Gabe Popko from Lake Linden-Hubbell.

Overall, the All-U.P. boy’s basketball honors showcase the depth of talent and skill present in high school basketball across the Upper Peninsula, celebrating the hard work and dedication of these exceptional athletes and coaches.
