The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has once again demonstrated its commitment to providing humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, with the successful delivery of 400 tonnes of food aid to the northern Gaza Strip. This delivery, in partnership with American Near East Refugee Aid (Anera), is intended to feed around 120 thousand people and address the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region.
Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, emphasized the UAE’s dedication to supporting the Palestinian people in Gaza. She stated, “The UAE’s safe and successful delivery and distribution of food relief to the Gaza Strip, especially the Northern Gaza Strip, marks a significant scaling up in action. We remain firmly committed to our position of solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people and alleviating suffering in the Gaza Strip.”
Sean Carroll, President and CEO of Anera, expressed gratitude for the support from the UAE, which enabled the delivery of food aid to northern Gaza where the needs are most critical. He highlighted the importance of such assistance in providing essential sustenance to those in need.
The UAE’s efforts in Gaza extend beyond food aid, with the allocation of US$15 million under the Amalthea Fund to support aid flows in the region. Collaborating with international partners and organizations, the UAE has utilized various means of transportation, including land, air, and sea, to deliver over 31,000 tonnes of urgent humanitarian supplies. This includes food, relief items, and medical supplies, dispatched through numerous flights, airdrops, trucks, and ships.
In addition to immediate relief efforts, the UAE has initiated sustainable projects to provide food and water to the people of Gaza. This includes the establishment of automatic bakeries to serve thousands of individuals, supplying flour to existing bakeries, and setting up desalination plants to provide clean water to hundreds of thousands of people daily.
The UAE’s ongoing support for Gaza reflects its commitment to alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people and addressing the humanitarian crisis in the region. By working closely with partners like Anera and implementing sustainable relief projects, the UAE continues to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
As the UAE remains dedicated to providing aid to Gaza, it is clear that the country’s efforts are making a significant difference in the lives of thousands of individuals. Through continued collaboration and support, the UAE is helping to bring hope and relief to the people of Gaza during these challenging times.
