Larry Lomotey, a resident of Atherton, returned home from a holiday in Dubai craving the fresh Acai bowls he had enjoyed during his trip. Unable to find the same quality treat locally, Larry saw an opportunity to fill the gap in the market by launching ‘Acai Hut’ in a building his bricklaying firm had recently completed.
The Acai Hut offers a variety of fresh acai bowls, smoothie and sorbet-style treats made with the sweet Brazilian acai berry. Customers can customize their bowls with a range of toppings, frozen fruit, and extras, providing a healthy snack option for the community.
The grand opening of Acai Hut on Saturday, April 20, saw queues out of the door as locals flocked to try the new offerings. Despite only being open for two weekends, the business has exceeded Larry’s expectations, with positive feedback from customers, including Leigh Leopards players who have been searching for a similar establishment.
Speaking about the successful launch, Larry expressed his gratitude for the support and excitement for the future of Acai Hut. With plans to expand the menu and open throughout the week, the business aims to become a staple in the Atherton community.
Located on Market Street, Acai Hut is currently open on Saturdays and Sundays, providing a refreshing and healthy option for residents looking for a tasty treat.
