Mindscape and Aesir Interactive have announced the upcoming release of Windstorm: The Legend of Khiimori, an open-world adventure game set to launch in September. The game will first be available on early access on Steam, offering players a captivating journey through ancient Mongolia.
In Windstorm: The Legend of Khiimori, players will step into the shoes of a young courier rider in 13th century Mongolia, on a quest to uncover the mystery of Khiimori, the mythical “wind horse.” With stunning landscapes to explore on horseback, players will form a strong bond with their majestic companions. The game boasts realistic equine behavior and animation, developed on Unreal Engine 5.
Wolfgang Emmer, the game director at Aesir Interactive in Munich, Germany, expressed excitement about delivering a realistic horse gameplay experience approved by experts. Emmer stated, “We’re eager for players to experience the legendary bond between horse and rider.”
Windstorm: The Legend of Khiimori offers a vast and dynamic open world where survival depends on the relationship between rider and horse. Players will breed, tame, and train their horses while navigating diverse biomes and managing resources. Quests will challenge players’ riding skills and strategic planning, immersing them in the ancient tradition of Mongolian courier riders.
The game’s early access phase will allow players to participate in the development process and provide feedback. With a roadmap of planned updates in the works, the game will evolve based on community input. Mindscape, a video game publisher based in Amstelveen, The Netherlands, has been captivating gamers for over three decades with a diverse portfolio of titles.
