President Joe Biden delivers on promise in Racine, Wisconsin after Trump’s failed Foxconn project
Nearly six years after former President Donald Trump promised Racine, Wisconsin residents the “eighth wonder of the world” in the form of a chip factory by Foxconn, President Joe Biden announced a $3.3 billion artificial intelligence data center on the same site. The data center, owned by Microsoft, will bring 2,300 unionized workers during construction and 2,000 permanent jobs.
Racine, once a manufacturing hub, saw job losses due to globalization. Trump’s promise of a Foxconn plant creating 13,000 jobs never materialized, leaving a vacant site. Biden blamed Trump’s economic policies for the decline in employment.
Biden’s “Investing in America agenda” has created $866 billion in private sector investment nationwide, adding hundreds of thousands of jobs. He emphasized job growth and economic recovery, promising more opportunities in Racine and across the country.
The president’s visit to Wisconsin was a contrast to Trump’s activities in Florida amid a criminal trial. The White House highlighted Biden’s commitment to investing in overlooked communities and industries of the future like AI and clean energy.
Biden’s speech in Racine showcased a vision of economic growth from the bottom up, resonating with union workers and emphasizing a fair shot for all Americans. The president’s actions in revitalizing Racine stand as a stark contrast to Trump’s unfulfilled promises, marking a new chapter of progress and opportunity for the community.
