Iron Mountain Girls Soccer Falls to Three Lakes

Iron Mountain girls varsity soccer team faced off against Three Lakes on Tuesday at Mountaineer Stadium, but the Mountaineers struggled to find their rhythm, resulting in a 3-1 loss to the Bluejays.

The game started off slow, with both teams unable to score in the first 24 minutes of play. However, Three Lakes broke the deadlock with a quick goal to take a 1-0 lead. They added another goal off a rebound just three minutes later, heading into halftime with a 2-0 advantage.

Iron Mountain came out with renewed energy in the second half, and their efforts paid off when Jaedyn Simonetti scored a free kick to bring the score to 2-1. Despite their efforts, the Bluejays managed to extend their lead to 3-1 with seven minutes left in the game, securing the win.

Iron Mountain co-coach Carly Lambert expressed disappointment in her team’s lack of energy and aggression, emphasizing the need for improvement in communication and overall performance as they approach the U.P. girls soccer finals.

The Mountaineers have two more regular-season games before the finals, with their next game scheduled against Houghton at Mountaineer Stadium on Monday. They will then close out the regular season with a game in Marquette on Wednesday.

Despite the loss to Three Lakes, Iron Mountain remains focused on making improvements and finishing the season strong.
