The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) honored the best in music from film, television, and video games at the Composers’ Choice Awards on Thursday night. Among the winners were Daniel Pemberton for Film Score of the Year for “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” David Fleming for Television Score of the Year for “The Last of Us,” and Siddhartha Khosla for Television Theme of the Year for “Only Murders in the Building.”

The awards, voted on by members of the ASCAP composer and songwriter community, are unique in that composers and songwriters choose the winners from a list of nominees determined by industry leaders. The winners were announced at the ASCAP Screen Awards Celebration in Los Angeles, where 93 prominent film and television composers were recognized for their work in 2023.

In addition to the Composers’ Choice Awards, the ASCAP Screen Music Awards honored composers for their work in the highest-grossing films and most popular TV projects of the year. Daniel Pemberton took home Top Box Office Film of the Year for “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” while David Vanacore was named Most Performed Themes and Underscore winner for his work on shows like “Survivor” and “The Kardashians.”

Other winners included Robert Duncan for “The Night Agent,” Natalie Holt for “Loki,” and Germaine Franco for “The Mother.” The complete list of winners can be found on the ASCAP website.
