Former Montreal Alouettes offensive lineman Sean Jamieson is reflecting on his career after being released by the team this winter. Despite missing the entire regular season due to a knee injury, Jamieson was grateful to have dressed for the Alouettes’ Grey Cup victory last November, securing his name on the trophy.
However, Jamieson expressed disappointment at not being invited to the ceremony where players receive their championship rings. Instead, he was informed that his ring would be mailed to him. The 29-year-old lineman, who spent his entire career in Montreal, felt left out and wished he could have celebrated with his former teammates one last time.
While not officially retiring, Jamieson has decided to move on from his football career. With a son on the way, he plans to focus on his job as a sales rep for a tech company and his new role as an assistant offensive-line coach at his alma mater, Western University.
Despite the challenges he faced, including recovering from an ACL injury, Jamieson looks back on his time with the Alouettes with gratitude. He acknowledges the highs and lows of his career but is content with how it all ended, winning a championship and leaving the game on his own terms.
As the Alouettes begin training camp, Jamieson is unsure how he will feel, but he is ready to embrace the next chapter of his life. He looks back fondly on his time as a pro athlete and is grateful for the experiences and relationships he gained along the way.
