Troubled Oklahoma Judge Brian Lovell is facing even more legal trouble after being indicted for allegedly carrying out a drive-by shooting at his brother-in-law’s home. Lovell, who is already facing multiple felony gun charges in Texas, now faces fresh felony counts in connection with the incident that took place in Bison, Oklahoma on Feb. 12, 2023.
According to reports, Lovell allegedly riddled his brother-in-law Kenneth Markes’ home with bullets in the drive-by shooting. Just two days after the incident, Lovell claimed that the gun used had been stolen from his vehicle. This is not the first time Lovell has been in trouble with the law involving a firearm. He is also facing eight felony counts in Texas for a similar incident that took place in Austin last year.
In the Texas case, Lovell is accused of discharging a firearm multiple times from his vehicle, hitting several vehicles in the area. He then allegedly rear-ended another vehicle during a road rage encounter. Lovell was indicted in the Austin case on Feb. 29 and is currently free on a $10,000 bond.
In response to the new Oklahoma indictment, Lovell’s lawyer stated that prosecutors do not have a strong case and that they intend to vigorously defend against the charges. If convicted, Lovell could face up to 20 years in prison. The judge and his wife have reportedly cooperated fully with the investigation.
