The trees were planted as part of the ‘Park and Plant’ initiative, which was supported by visitors to the Hero Dubai Desert Classic held in January. The tournament, won by Rory McIlroy for a record fourth time, encouraged attendees to travel via the Dubai Metro. Those who drove to the event participated in the initiative by paying a fee to park on site, which was then used to fund the planting of mangrove trees.
Simon Corkill, Executive Tournament Director of Hero Dubai Desert Classic, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, highlighting the event’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact and delivering a sustainable experience.
