Azusa Pacific Tennis Team Advances to NCAA Division II Championships

In a thrilling Regional round match, the Azusa Pacific tennis team secured their spot among the final 16 teams in the NCAA Division II Tennis Championships by defeating Point Loma with a 4-0 score. The Cougars, now boasting a perfect 23-0 season record, further solidified their status as the top team in the West region.

The match was intense from the start, with Point Loma taking the No. 1 doubles match. However, Azusa Pacific’s duo of Brody Bohren and Cole Rassner leveled the playing field with a 6-4 win at No. 2. The deciding match came down to the No. 3 doubles, where Azusa Pacific’s Soeren Grandke and Constantin Barth showcased their skills, ultimately clinching the doubles point with a 7-3 tiebreak victory.

The Cougars carried the momentum into the singles matches, with all six players winning their first sets. Barth, remaining undefeated at 18-0, swiftly defeated his opponent in straight sets. Bohren and Grandke also secured victories, with Grandke’s win at No. 3 sealing Azusa Pacific’s 4-0 triumph.

This victory marks Azusa Pacific’s third consecutive appearance at the Nationals, scheduled to begin on Monday, April 20 in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
