The Fort Myers Mighty Mussels kicked off their season with a 4-2 loss against the Tampa Tarpons at Hammond Stadium. Despite the defeat, there were some standout performances from the Mussels.

Ross Dunn, making his professional debut, pitched four solid innings and struck out six Tarpons while allowing only one run on three hits. Byron Chourio also had a strong showing for the Mussels, reaching base four times with two walks and two singles.

After falling behind, the Mussels fought back in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring two runs to take the lead. However, the Tarpons responded with three runs in the top of the seventh, including a two-run home run from Roderick Arias, to secure the victory.

Ben Ethridge took the loss for the Mussels, while Hueston Morrill earned the win for the Tarpons and Aaron Nixon notched the save.

Looking ahead, the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels will aim to bounce back in their next game, with Twins’ No. 7 prospect Charlee Soto set to make his professional debut on the mound. The game is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. with coverage starting at 5:45 p.m. on the Mighty Mussels Baseball Network. Fans can tune in to see if the Mussels can secure their first win of the season.
