Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has finalized his squad for the upcoming 2024 Euros, opting for a largely unchanged lineup despite late claims from Borussia Dortmund stars Mats Hummels and Julian Brandt. The duo, who have been instrumental in Dortmund’s journey to the Champions League final against Real Madrid, were left out in favor of the team that secured victories over France and the Netherlands in March.
Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry were also notable omissions from the 27-man squad, which will be trimmed to 26 following the June friendlies against Ukraine and Greece. The decision to stick with the current squad comes after a disappointing 2023 campaign for Germany, which saw them struggle to find form under former coach Hansi Flick.

Despite speculation over the final squad, the German FA had already revealed 18 members via social media, reducing the anticipation ahead of the tournament. Germany will kick off their Euros campaign against Scotland on June 14 in Munich, following a pre-tournament training camp in Blankenhai.
