Residents in Dollard-des-Omeaux were left shocked on Thursday morning as heavily armed Montreal police officers assisted RCMP investigators in executing a search warrant on Tecumseh St. The operation was part of an investigation into alleged ketamine smuggling.

According to RCMP spokesperson Charles Poirier, this search warrant was one of eight executed at residences in Dorval, Laval, and Ontario on the same day. The investigation was initiated in February after the RCMP received information from the Department of Homeland Security in the U.S.

Six men and one woman were arrested and taken to the RCMP’s C Division headquarters in Westmount for questioning. Poirier mentioned that no charges are expected to be laid on Thursday in connection with the ongoing investigation.

Ketamine, as described by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, is a dissociative anesthetic with hallucinogenic effects. It distorts sight and sound perception, making users feel disconnected and out of control.

A resident living near the raided home on Tecumseh St. shared his experience of hearing people shouting “Police!” in the early morning hours. The usually quiet neighborhood was suddenly filled with the presence of heavily armed police officers.

By 9 a.m., a marked RCMP vehicle was visible in the driveway of the house, with crime scene technicians entering and exiting the premises. The front door handle was visibly damaged from the operation.

The investigation continues, and residents are left wondering about the events unfolding in their usually peaceful neighborhood.
