The University of Lynchburg celebrated a momentous occasion as 506 master’s and doctoral degrees were conferred during the 2024 Commencement ceremonies. The festivities began with the Doctor of Education in Leadership Studies Commencement and Hooding Ceremony, where 15 EdD students were honored.
University President Dr. Alison Morrison-Shetlar commended the doctoral candidates for the important role they will play in the future, urging them to lead with courage and grace. Dr. Roger Jones, a key figure in the development of the Doctor of Education program, reflected on the program’s success and the importance of the leadership lessons learned by the graduates.
The following day, 133 candidates were celebrated during the Master’s Programs Ceremony, with President Morrison-Shetlar emphasizing the values instilled in the graduates during their time at Lynchburg. Keynote speaker Dr. Thomas Nygaard stressed the importance of lifelong learning and encouraged the candidates to continue growing, exploring their interests, giving back to the community, staying connected to the university, and expressing gratitude to impactful professors.
The ceremonies were filled with heartfelt speeches, inspiring messages, and proud moments as each candidate received their diploma on stage. The graduates, filled with hope and determination, are now ready to embark on their next chapter, equipped with the knowledge and skills gained during their time at the University of Lynchburg.
