Former Player Believes Nuggets Would Have Benefited from Veteran Presence Last Season

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Denver Nuggets’ quest for back-to-back NBA championships came to a screeching halt as the Minnesota Timberwolves pulled off a stunning upset in Games 6 and 7 of the Western Conference Second Round Playoffs. Despite a valiant effort to claw their way back into the series after dropping the first two games at home, the Nuggets fell short of their goal.

Former NBA star Tim Hardaway pointed to the absence of Bruce Brown as a key factor in the Nuggets’ downfall. Speaking on The Carton Show, Hardaway emphasized Brown’s impact as the team’s energy guy off the bench, noting that his presence was sorely missed this season. Brown, known for his versatility and defensive prowess, was a game-changer on both ends of the floor last year.

While Brown may not have put up All-Star numbers, his infectious energy and ability to guard multiple positions made him a valuable asset for the Nuggets. His slashing ability, strong finishing, and outside shooting added a dynamic element to the team’s second unit. Despite being traded midway through the previous season, Brown’s absence was keenly felt in the playoffs.

As the Nuggets reflect on their playoff exit, they will undoubtedly rue the absence of their X-Factor off the bench. While they retained their championship core, the impact of Bruce Brown’s absence was palpable in their postseason run. As they look ahead to the future, the Nuggets will need to address their bench depth to ensure they have the necessary firepower to make another championship run.
