Blue Earth Area Track and Field Team Kicks Off Season with Strong Performances

The Blue Earth Area track and field team wasted no time getting into competition mode as they traveled to Mankato for their first meet of the year on Friday, March 22. Despite not having had any practice on the track yet, the Bucs showed up ready to compete against six other teams.

In the boys competition, the Bucs finished in sixth place with 32 points. Jacob Grandgenett was a standout performer, taking first place in both the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter run. Other notable finishes included Marcus Eckles placing sixth in the 60-meter high hurdles and Gage Barker earning sixth place in the long jump.

On the girls side, the Buccaneers secured a fourth-place finish with 44 points. Addison Armstrong and Chloe Groe led the way with Armstrong winning the 400-meter dash and Groe taking first in the shot put. The girls team also had strong showings in the pole vault, 400-meter dash, and triple jump.

The track teams are gearing up for another indoor meet in Mankato on Thursday, March 28, where they will look to build on their early success. Stay tuned for more updates on their performances in the next edition of the Faribault County Register.
