Sirbaz Khan, a renowned mountaineer from Pakistan, has once again made his country proud by conquering Mount Everest without the use of supplementary oxygen. This remarkable achievement was reported by local media platform Geo TV.
Khan reached the summit of the world’s highest mountain at 12:30 pm local time, becoming only the second Pakistani to accomplish this feat without relying on oxygen. The only other Pakistani to achieve this milestone is mountaineer Sajid Sidpara.
Having previously scaled the 8849-meter peak with bottled oxygen, Khan has now added another feather to his cap by becoming the first Pakistani to climb 11 peaks over 8,000 meters without oxygen support. In total, Khan has conquered 13 peaks of 8,000 meters, with only Annapurna and Kangchenjunga climbed with oxygen assistance.
Despite facing challenges earlier this year when his plans to summit the Shishapangma peak were delayed due to mountain closures in China, Khan remains determined to achieve his goal of climbing all 14 of the world’s highest mountains standing over 8,000 meters. His next targets include Mount Makalu and Gasherbrum-1.
Hailing from the picturesque Hunza valley in the northern Gilgit-Baltistan region, the 32-year-old mountaineer began his journey in 2016 and has since made significant strides in the world of mountaineering. Khan’s dedication and passion for climbing have not only set records but also inspired a new generation of Pakistani adventurers.
